Naval Air Station (NAS) New York, also known as Floyd Bennett Field, was the first municipal airport in New York City and later became a key U.S. Navy air station during World War II. Located in Brooklyn, it was commissioned as a naval air station in 1941. NAS New York played a crucial role in training Navy F4U Corsair pilots and supporting anti-submarine patrols along the Atlantic coast. The station also served as a hub for aircraft assembly and repair. After the war, NAS New York continued to operate as a reserve training facility until its closure in 1971.
